WHAT WE DO

Our goal is to provide a "level playing field" for students so they can focus more on their education and less on their clothing.

  • We spend an average of $200 per student and provide at least three complete outfits, several pairs of socks and underclothing, pajamas, tennis shoes, hats, gloves, and a nice winter coat.

  • In addition to providing approximately $200 in clothing for each student, we buy school mascot shirts.  These are school spirit shirts that most of these students would like to have and can't afford.  Providing these shirts makes them feel a part of the student body, gives them a sense of belonging, and establishes a level playing field for these kids.

  • We provide dental kits to all students and, when available, health kits to all older students.

We work directly with school districts, asking representatives to do the following:

  • Identify the number of children in need.

  • Keep things confidential, by asking counselors to assign a number to each student.

  • Contact parents and ask them for permission for their child to participate in this voluntary program.

  • Request that a parent or student complete a "Wardrobe Sheet" providing sizes and color preferences.

Each fall, we send letters to businesses, churches, and individuals in each community, explaining current needs and soliciting donations, and we also apply for grants throughout the year.

During the school year, if counselors see specific needs, C.L.A.S.S. will meet those needs if funds are available.  Examples might include responding to disasters such as fires and flooding, meeting the needs of foster children, and providing needed hygiene items.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms

1 Peter 4:10
